Questions to Ask Your Health Insurance

It will be a new year soon and for many people that means their health insurance starts over. Co-pays may have changed. Deductibles and out of pockets go back to zero. As an employee working in health care there are several things you learn. The most important is to ask questions, lots of them. Insurance providers and plans vary greatly but there are some basic questions to ask your insurance provider if you need to be seen for physical therapy. (not listed in any particular order)

1- Do I have a copay or co-insurance?

2 - What is my deductible or out of pocket?

3 - After I meet my deductible do I still have to pay a copay or co-insurance? If so, how much?

4 - Do I need pre-authorization to be seen? If yes then is it before my first visit or after?

5 - How many visits am I allowed?

Insurances can be frustrating and asking the right questions will help you understand your benefits. After speaking with your insurance, if you still have questions you can ask us at your first appointment.
