Daniel Larsen

For my son, Daniel, the last five years have been a continual battle with appetite, weight, and energy.  When Daniel was 3 months away from his 4th birthday he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor that was attached to his pituitary gland, optic nerves, and carotid artery.  The tumor was immediately removed and as a result Daniel’s pituitary gland shut down.  He started out at 43 pounds and came home from the hospital already 5 pounds heavier.  The Doctor said Daniel would continue to gain and gain unless strict diet and exercise regulations were put in place.  After the first year of cutting every possible calorie, Daniel gained 30 pounds.
At his next MRI we were devastated to find that the tumor had re-grown, and once again had to be removed.  After his second surgery, we weaned his calories down to 750 a day.  Although it did stabilize his weight, Daniel’s energy level was cut in half and he would vomit 1-3 times a day.
In 2010 when I found out that our insurance would no longer pay for a nutritionist, it was then that I decided to call Wasatch Therapy.  I was ecstatic when I heard about their Kids Fitness Program!  As his overprotective mother I felt safer having him do exercises there because they are trained, have great equipment, and a fabulous staff.  It has been amazing to see the growth in Daniels coordination, self-esteem, strength, and stamina.  All of the many exercises he does there have greatly improved his coordination, something we never imagined would happen.  In baseball this year, he was hitting the ball every game, where as last year, his timing was so far off he never even came close.  Daniel was so unbelievably happy every time he hit the ball!  It is so great to have somewhere for Daniel to go and do great things I know he would never do with me.  Not only is it nice for me to have one hour where I can drop him off and know he is being well taken care of, but Daniel loves going to Wasatch and working out with his friends!

“When I started going to Wasatch Therapy I was in a lot of pain.  My knee was very stiff from my knee replacement.  Jennifer helped me with all of my questions about payment and scheduled all of my appointments.  Ashley performed my therapy.  I could not go all the way around on the bicycle; she worked with me until I could pedal at a good pace for ten minutes.  She bent my knee from 21 degrees until she achieved 128 degrees.  She was excellent!  The aides Sara, Gloria, and Jake all did a great job at helping me and encouraging me to progress.  I would like to thank the people at Wasatch therapy for helping me to regain the use of my knee! “ - Dennis D. “I had pain in my left hip so my doctor sent me to Wasatch Therapy.  I went for 3 weeks.  They were wonderful and taught me many things I could do to relieve my pain.  I now do these things at home and am almost pain free.  I appreciate all you have taught me about pain.  Thank you!”   - Barbara Bingham

"Three years ago I managed to tear my rotator cuff in my right shoulder. It was very painful. The doctor said I needed to have surgery and physical therapy or it would get progressively worse.

After the operation, I started physical therapy. The therapists approach on what was a very tender shoulder was methodical, gentle, and progressive.

He took the time to really work with my shoulder, but carefully and with minimal pain, which resulted in a very rapid healing process. He took the time and had the knowledge of how to get the most out of my sessions with him. In a few short weeks my shoulder was feeling better, and I was able to start using it again. It has been some time since my surgery, and my physical therapy treatments, and I am happy to say that my shoulder is better than it was before the injury." - Howard Freed
